Sylvester Mowry letters 1853

Collection includes: Photocopy manuscript letters to his father, April 27 and September 16 1853, and Edward T. Bicknall, June 28 1853, describing his work with the U.S. Army surveying possible railroad routes along the Columbia River. Sylvester Mowry (1830-1871) was a lieutenant in the U.S. Army stationed at Vancouver Barraracks, Washington Territory.
